Research Interests

General info:

AMBAR is focused on advanced materials for building and architectural restoration with a major interest in mortars, renders and coatings. We are interested in practical properties like water absorption, hydrophobicity and their relation to durability. Using chemical approaches the group is working in novel routes for synthesising high-purity nanolime suspensions to consolidate heritage materials. MSc and PhD students collaborate with the group in a multidisciplinary environment composed of engineers, architects and chemists. External collaborations with national and international partners provide the group with additional resources and knowledge in organic chemistry, geology, microbiology and heritage conservation.
